The origin of teclan can be found in the amalgamation of two very different businesses.

In 1997 Drew Hendry decided to join the dotcom boom by attempting to launch an online business selling Scottish clothing (tartan in particular) to Scottish ex-pats all over the world. Initially named ‘Clan Clothing’, Drew first had to find out how to get an online store running. Not an easy task back before PayPal existed and when Google had yet to be launched.

Following an arduous struggle to sell his products online, Drew came across a budding eCommerce company whose software finally got his store online. With the help of his new site, Drew spotted a gap in the market for others like him, looking to sell their products internationally. The insight he gained in setting up his own eCommerce platform became the basis of a very new business: te / c / lan.

Through combining this ‘tech’ know-how with the Clan Clothing business, a new era began. The client base grew and the team expanded to include Fergus Weir in 2004, who brought in his own expertise in programming, enabling teclan to develop even more sophisticated tools and solutions, and leading to his appointment as Managing Director in 2010.

Today, teclan are a strong team of marketing, design and technology experts delivering incredible results for its over 1,700 diverse clients scattered across the globe.
