After more than 100 Japan Country Manager and first-in-market leadership searches, the same patterns surfaced repeatedly across otherwise very different businesses: leadership-stage mismatch, operating-model misalignment, unrealistic HQ assumptions, sequencing failures, and organizational structures that constrained Japan outcomes long before the problems became operationally visible.
