HLS Consultants delivers lighting and electrical design for highways, infrastructure, public realm, residential and commercial projects across the UK, Ireland and the Middle East, structured specifically to prevent that outcome.

On most schemes, lighting and electrical design sit with separate firms. The handover between them is where the risk concentrates. Cable sizing and circuit protection get revisited after the lighting layout is already frozen. Photometric compliance is checked too late to change anything without touching the programme. HLS keeps both disciplines in one team from day one, so compliance is designed in rather than verified at the end.

Our scope covers the full project lifecycle: feasibility, photometric modelling and lighting calculations, lighting layouts and technical drawings, electrical design and load calculations, CAD and 3D BIM coordination to ISO 19650, design review, and as-built certification.

Designs are prepared against the standards they will be assessed on. For UK schemes, BS 5489-1, BS EN 13201 and DMRB. For Irish schemes, TII DN-LHT-03038. Electrical design is delivered to BS 7671 and ET 101.

Projects are senior-led, with clients working directly with the engineers producing the design rather than through an account layer. Our delivery model also gives UK and Ireland clients overnight turnaround, so a design query raised at the end of one working day is typically answered by the start of the next.
