Generative Engine Optimization is the practice of getting a brand named and cited inside AI-generated answers. Citant.ai tracks brand citation across six platforms: ChatGPT (OpenAI), Perplexity AI, Google Gemini, Claude (Anthropic), Microsoft Copilot, and Google AI Overviews. The core metric is Share of Model, the share of tracked queries on which a brand appears by name.

Every engagement runs on the 4-Layer Citation Framework: Retrieval, Re-ranking, Generation, and Meta Distribution. Each layer targets a different failure point. A page can rank in Google and remain invisible to ChatGPT live search, which retrieves primarily through Bing, and invisible again to Claude, which retrieves through an index that neither Bing nor Google work covers.
