Chief Studio

We help software companies talk about what they do in a way that makes sense to people.

We’re a product marketing agency, but we’re small (just Matt and Sophie, a husband and wife team), so when clients work with us, they work directly with the founders. Some clients need a few sessions or scopes to get unstuck. Others work with us long-term on a fractional CMO basis. Our goal at Chief is to give software a soul, the kind of marketing that feels human, trustworthy, and true to the product.

How is Chief Studio different?

We’re small on purpose. It’s just the two of us, so every client gets direct access to the people doing the work. There’s no handoffs to account managers, or extra layers to the process. We don’t just develop strategy; we also help implement it. That might mean rewriting a landing page, building email campaigns, editing a product video, or jumping on a call to figure out what to say in a customer email.

Because we work closely with a design agency we’ve partnered with for years, we’re able to produce a wide variety of work in copy, strategy, visual design, and demo video production.

About us

We’re Matt and Sophie, the couple behind Chief Studio. Sophie spent over a decade working in marketing, across both B2C and B2B, and at companies of all shapes and sizes. She’s worked in fast-growing startups and big Microsoft partner firms.

Matt started in photography and writing, working as the content editor for the World Photography Organisation in London. His background in the arts brings a different creative perspective to our work.

Originally founded in Edinburgh, we are now based in sunny Lanzarote, Spain, where we live the digital nomad life with our 5-year-old son.
