About 80 Watts
Most product teams bring in a UX researcher when they're already behind. They've built the wrong thing, missed the market, or shipped a feature nobody uses. That's the expensive version of learning.
80 Watts exists to prevent that.
I'm Matt Wallens, an experience strategy consultant based in Atlanta, GA. I work with product teams at mid-size companies and well-funded startups who need real research rigor without a full-time hire. My work sits at the intersection of user behavior and business strategy: I help you figure out what to build, who it's for, and whether your assumptions will hold up before you've committed to them.
Engagements typically fall into four areas: discovery research to understand your users and market before you build; sprint advisory to keep research connected to product decisions as you move; market validation to pressure-test a new concept or entry point; and fractional research lead work for teams that need ongoing research capacity without the overhead.
I also founded UX Research Atlanta, a professional community of 2,200+ practitioners in the metro area.
If your team is making build decisions based on gut instinct, competitive pressure, or last quarter's sales calls, there's a better way. Let's talk.
