## About

Vela is a design studio in Auckland, New Zealand, working worldwide.

We design and build websites and brand identities for businesses whose first impression has to do the selling. Dealerships, studios, hospitality, professional services. The common thread is a business that is already good and does not look it yet.

A visitor decides whether to trust a company in about three seconds, and almost all of that decision is made before a single word has been read. It is made by type, spacing, pace and restraint. That is what we work on.

Every site is designed from scratch. No templates, no themes, no stock library. We hand code where it buys the client something, and we use a platform where the client needs to edit it themselves. Which one it is gets decided with the client, not for them.

Services: web design, web development, brand identity, art direction, AI chatbots and automation, technical SEO. The AI side is the work nobody has time for: enquiries answered around the clock, phone reception, follow up and quoting.

Vela is Latin for the sails. It is also a constellation in the southern sky, one of three pieces of Argo Navis, the largest constellation ever charted, which was broken up in 1752. A sail catches something already moving and turns it into direction.
