SouthSwell is a nearshore software engineering studio built for US teams that need senior development capacity without the overhead of a traditional agency or the risk of an offshore bench. We're not a staffing shop — we're a small team of senior engineers who ship production software directly, with timezone overlap for US-based teams.

Our core capabilities are React/Next.js frontend and full-stack engineering, backend development in Node.js and .NET Core, Shopify and e-commerce platform builds, and cloud infrastructure/DevOps on Azure — CI/CD pipelines, Static Web Apps, Functions, and migrations. These are the same disciplines we use to build and run our own production sites, not services we subcontract out.

What sets us apart is how we work, not just what we build. You talk directly to the engineer doing the work — no account manager relaying requirements, no junior developer rotating in once a senior has sold the project. We don't staff a bench; every engagement is senior-only, and every engineer is accountable for what they ship, not just hours logged.

We embed into a client's existing repo, tools, and workflow like an extension of their team rather than an outside vendor — real-time collaboration, not async-only handoffs across a wide timezone gap. Engagements are flexible: a single dedicated engineer filling a specific gap, a small project team taking a feature end-to-end, or ongoing DevOps/infrastructure capacity.

SouthSwell exists to solve a specific problem US teams keep running into: senior engineering hiring is slow, offshore engagements are often opaque, and agencies add layers between the client and the person actually writing the code.
